Homeless Youth - the Silent Epidemic


Youth (ages 14-24) is one of the fastest increasing homeless subpopulations in the U.S. 1/5 of the nation's homeless youth live in California. The number of homeless youth in Kern (221 KHSD 2015) is estimated to be twice the number of homeless veterans (101 counted in the 2016 Point in Time Count).

Facilitated by the Kern County Homeless Collaborative Homeless Youth Working Group, a component of the Homeless Prevention and Discharge Planning Committee.


Resources will be available for families with youth who may be on the verge to homelessness (running away, moving or being kicked out).
